Chips In! Kirin-Railway Stakes @Ascot 24/11/18

The racing spotlight heads west this weekend with the start of the Perth Summer Carnival. The Melbourne Spring has sadly come and gone but there is still great racing with The Ballarat Cup meeting showcasing some of Victoria’s best. Sandown’s meeting last Saturday to close out the Melbourne Carnival was a beauty and capped off a great spring at Chips In Racing. Fifty Starts and Ringerdingding keep the day alive, while the Zipping Classic winner provided the Chinese. Hopefully we can take our good form west!

Kirin-Railway Stakes (Group 1)

The million dollar mile has always been a great event and this year seems to be no different. Locals take on the interstate rivals, a big crowd will be on hand, and it truly is a ‘Super Saturday’. Galaxy Star has been crunched in betting ($3.50 into $2.70), and I expect the money to continue. William Pike takes the ride, she jumps from barrier 2, she is carrying a feather with 53kg, she has recorded 9 wins from 12 starts, she has never finished worst than second in her career, Saturday she is third up from a spell, PUSH THE CHIPS IN! I thought $3.50 was a steal and I still think she is over the odds. May need some luck from the low barrier draw but she will get her chance. No crowding, just get around her!

Several other fancied runners in the field have drawn poorly and will need luck from the wide start. Iconoclasm has drawn barrier 12 but is coming off a forgive run over the Cup carnival. The win at Caulfield three starts back was outstanding and he can make amends for it Saturday. Peaceful State has always been branded a Group 1 winner in waiting and he and jockey Ben Allen get  chance to taste Group 1 Glory together on Saturday. He was unlucky in The Group 1 Kennedy Mile and a similar run on Saturday will have him going close. Action and Mister Sea Wolf both over the odds ($17 and $20 respectively).

Selections: 1. Galaxy Star (11) 2. Peaceful State (7) 3. Mister Sea Wolf (6)
