Ladbrokes Sir John Monash Stakes @TheHeath 13/07/18

The Group 3 Sir John Monash stakes headlines a cracking day at Caulfield aka The People's Heath this Saturday. With $150,000 up for grabs the top jockeys and trainers will be battling it out for Group type before the end of the 2017-2018 racing season. With a small but competitive field on hand the market is offering good value in what will be the feature of the day for the punters trackside. Read more [...]

Chips In! VRC-CRV Winter Championship Final @Flemington #07/07/18

As a racing analyst I have had the privilege of previewing some of the best horses in time honoured events. Not often do I get to preview my own horse in a feature event. On Saturday ‘The Peoples Horse’ Kaching #sonofagun lines up at Flemington in the feature event of the Victorian Winter, The VRC-CRV Winter Championship Final. The $150,000 final sees the best milers in Victoria hit headquarters chasing their moment in the sun. While it will be hard to stay objective I will do my best with the below preview. Out of respect to my father Desmond Edser our Jockey Ben Thompson will be wearing a black armband Read more [...]

My Racing Influence – Desmond Francis Michael Edser

While Kaching won at Bendigo on Sunday and booked himself a spot in The Winter Championships at Flemington, for not one second did I think that would be the last race that my Dad would ever watch. Unfortunately my hero and father Desmond Francis Michael Edser passed away suddenly on Sunday night which has left a whole that will be never filled. The man had a special bond with his sons because of sport but more importantly because of the sport of kings. Read more [...]

Chips In! Channel 7 Ipswich Cup @Ipswich #16/06/18

The focus switches to Ipswich for a bumper day of racing after a sensational Super Saturday at Doomben. The Eye Liner Stakes, The Gai Waterhouse Classic, and of course The Channel 7 Ipswich Cup will be highlights on a day that is synonymous with a massive crowd, xxxx gold, and quality racing. We had a great day last Saturday at Chips In Racing first up from a spell with our best bet and our Stradbroke bet getting the chocolates. I am a known second up specialist so get around me. While the 'A' graders have gone to the paddock after the Group 1 features last week there is still plenty of good horses chasing the Black Type available. Let's Chase The Sun together and get plenty in the pockets for the people's horse Kaching on Sunday at Bendigo. Read more [...]

Chips In! Ubet Stradbroke Handicap @Doomben #SuperSaturday

The term 'Super Saturday' is thrown around more than a Bill Cosby accusation, but it is relevant this Saturday at Doomben. With wall to wall Group Racing Stradbroke Day will be one to remember. I have been lucky enough to be in the mounting yard on Stradbroke Day and represented an owner for the feature race with Listen Son. It was a buzz I will not forget nor will I forget the agony on Robert Heathcote's face when Buffering was ran down by Linton in the shadows in 2013. I backed Black Piranha in 2009 as if it couldn't lose and left with more pineapples than a farmer, and I left the track penniless in 2010 when Whobegotyou delivered less punch than Anthony Mundine. My point is every year The Stradbroke Handicap provides the drama, another chapter, the theatre, which is the jewel in the crown of the Brisbane Winter Carnival. Read more [...]

Chips In! All Aged Stakes @Randwick #21/04/18

As The Championships and the Sydney autumn carnival comes to a close we still have a couple of Group 1 events this Saturday to get the heart pumping. There should be plenty of ‘’Chips’’ left over for a play this weekend after our best each way Who ShotThebarman saluted in the Sydney cup at a tasty price (suggested 7by3 @$14). Our Oaks selection Unforgiven also got the casssssssh (suggested 5by5 @$4) while our Winx trifecta narrowly missed. It’s been a good preparation for Chips In and in essence a very successful autumn which is traditionally a tricky time of year. No heavy tracks helped!!!! Read more [...]

Chips In! Queen Elizabeth Stakes @Randwick #14/04/2018

Welcome to the second day of the championships, The Grand Finals of Australian Racing. We nearly had a day out in the sun last week with Oohood, Redzel, and Ace High all beaten in the #shadows, while our Doncaster selection Happy Clapper got the chocolates. The $72 Exacta was nice but we were left lamenting the allups that went astray. Gee whiz. On an action packed day of racing Winx takes centre stage in the $4 million dollar feature The Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes. There are whispers around that this could be the final act, and she won’t have it all her own way as she looks to sit aside The Greatest of all time Black Caviar with 25 consecutive wins. Personally I hope she wins with authority, hopefully they retire her and let her be a mum, and hopefully people won’t compare her with a sprinter or pot her for not going overseas. Sit back and enjoy what is currently the greatest Horse Racing spectacle on the planet #chipsin #chasethesun #chipslife #thechips Read more [...]

The Star Doncaster Mile @Randwick #07/04/18

Welcome to day 1 of The Championships, The Grand Finals of Horse Racing. We have plenty of value on offer this week at Randwick with wall to wall Group racing with The Star Doncaster Mile the $3 Million Dollar feature event. We are hoping to continue where we left off last week tipping 3 winners from 5 including our best bet Almandin ($4), best place Levendi ($5), and next best Osbourne Bulls ($4). It will be a cracking day tomorrow for the opening day of The Championships and for once these Group 1 events will be ran on a dry track! It is usually Death, Taxes, and a wet Randwick for The Doncaster, not this year. Get trackside if you can, if not open the shoulders, have a crack, and make a name for yourself #chasethesun Read more [...]

Chips In! Kia Tancred Stakes @Rosehill #31/03/2018

Guess who's back, back again, guess who's back, tell your dog! Chips In is first up from a spell after a successful trip to the punting heart land, that's right #vegas. Despite missing Hellbent winning the William Reid at $11 financially Chips In had a good time in Paradise. Watching The Golden Slipper from a far was interesting as was trying to get a bet on! The old wifi and mobile data didn't know what country I was in more than myself. Winx looked good against some of our quality opposition, she is now a world record holder, but she won't travel to take on the rest of the world, while the Australian Cricket Team turned the clock back to 1981. I usually stick to horse racing but I will have a crack at the sandpaper saga in this edition. Read more [...]

Chips In! Super Saturday @Flemington #10/03/18

The Australian Cup is the feature of 'Super Saturday' which is a nice way to finish Melbourne's Autumn carnival before the focus heads north to Sydney for The Golden Slipper and The Championships. Its been a stellar Melbourne Autumn and last week was sensational. We had an old fashion fill up here last week at Chips In Racing with a collect from each of our selections including our best bet Hear The Chant who won easier than a 10 year old against a bunch of toddlers in a game of back yard cricket. This is the last edition for Chips In Racing until Good Friday (30/3) as little Chips In is San Diego and Las Vegas bound for the annual IRSHA convention in The United States of America. If you would like to stay up to date with my tips or pointers, check Chips In Racing facebook page out for the weekly tips (minus the preview).
